kubrick MASCHINEN KRIEGER header

These super-detailed mobile armour robot suits have an interesting history. The original designs come from Japanese artist and model maker Kow Yokoyama and were produced for a futuristic war photostory in Japan's king of model magazines - Hobby Japan - in the mid to late 80s. Following that they were released as a legendary series of kits under the name SF3D, winning admiration for their super high quality, cool military-style packaging and use of real metal parts (unheard of in those days). Following some legal wranglings, the magazine stopped production of the kits and it's only as recently as 1999 that Yokoyama and model kit producer Nitto have been able to re-release SF3D under the new name of (deep breath, now) Ma.K. ZbV3000 Maschinen Krieger. This, of course, is where these little chaps come in as Kow's particular brand of military realism and sci-fi mecha reach a whole new audience.

There's no blind selection here - you know exactly which design you're getting and five out of the six Kubricks can be displayed with either the 'lid' down or with its pilot's head peeking out.

Note: Due to small parts and the usual choking hazard, none of these figures are suitable for under 3 years old little ones.

designed by Kow Yokoyama - produced by Medicom

The land-attack SFAS Raptor is a heavy-duty beast well suited to stomping about in the mud and hitting other metal-suited bods on the head - boing! Yeah, we're really sure Kow's super-realistic story goes like that :P

designed by Kow Yokoyama - produced by Medicom

The super AFS is probably the classic Ma.K design sporting a laser arm and, apparently, a heat-resistant ceramic armour! In the story each one came with a industrial sized bottle of Fairy Liquid! Nah, we're only kidding... no really!

kubrick: MASCHINEN KRIEGER - CHAPTER 2 - Racoonkubrick: MASCHINEN KRIEGER - CHAPTER 2 - Racoon
designed by Kow Yokoyama - produced by Medicom

That's not a rocket launcher on the Racoon's shoulder, it's an optical unit. That, combined with the absence of a laser arm makes the Racoon a scout SFAS. Yes it does - so there! We know what we're talking about here.

designed by Kow Yokoyama - produced by Medicom

And here is the Snake Eye with its added sensor suite and new laser arm. It's another space SFAS (and is normally seen in white) that lead to the development of it's land-based cousin - the Raptor. Is known for often having 'clean me' written in the muck on its front plate after a hectic mission.

One for the dapper mobile suit pilot around town.

kubrick: MASCHINEN KRIEGER - CHAPTER 2 - FireBall SGkubrick: MASCHINEN KRIEGER - CHAPTER 2 - FireBall SG
designed by Kow Yokoyama - produced by Medicom

The Fire Ball is a space-going SFAS suit that sports the obligatory laser arm and two huge engine bells. The 'SG' stands for 'stop gap' as in the Ma.K story it was produced when supply of the superior Snake Eye suit couldn't meet demand. We know it's just begging for a 'my other SFAS is a Snake Eye' bumper sticker!
